Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) allows multiple server nodes to run the Oracle RDBMS software simultaneously while accessing a single database. This is called a clustered database - using shared storage to work together to more quickly process transactions and complete queries, without using expensive UNIX-based symmetric multiprocessors. It is easy to expand your capabilities by simply adding more nodes as your business grows; there is no need to buy all your hardware upfront but grow as needed. RAC will support this architecture. With RAC it is possible to achieve very high scalability.

BCS Consulting employs a number of Data Guard specialists who have worked for Oracle within the Data Guard technology team. As Data Disaster Recovery is central to an organisation's DR planning, BCS has invested heavily in producing a methodology based upon Data Guard.
